Night Before French Toast Casserole

Serves: 8

Ingredients:
10 ounces french bread loaf, sliced 1ʺ thick
8 large eggs
3 cups milk
4 teaspoons sugar
¾ teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons butter, sliced thin
1 tablespoon butter

Preparation:
Grease a 13ʺ x 9ʺ x 2ʺ baking pan with 1 tablespoon butter.

Arrange sliced bread in single layer in buttered pan.

In large bowl beat eggs milk, sugar, salt, and vanilla. Pour over bread. Cover with foil and refrigerate from 4 to 36 hours.

Preheat oven to 350°

Dot each bread slice with sliced butter. Bake uncovered, for 45 minutes, or until bread is puffy and golden brown.

Let stand 5 minutes before serving.

Notes:
Serve with warmed maple syrup, fruit jam or apple butter as a topping along with a breakfast side meat of your choice.
