This page is for basic cooking and baking tips that we follow for best results. They are not posted in any particular order (yet) but is an assortment of tips from a variety of sources.

Butter

  • Most recipes call for salted butter unless otherwise specified.
  • When using butter in cookies, bring the butter to room temperature before starting the recipe.Do not use the microwave to soften the butter and do not melt the butter for cookies.
  • When using butter in pie crusts and breads, keep the butter as cold as possible and don’t take it out of the refrigerator until ready to use it in the recipe.
