Homemade Fajita Seasonings Mix

Posted in : Sauces, Soups and Stews, Special/Unique on by : Noreen Tags: , , , , ,

Yields: Enough seasoning for 4-5 batches of fajitas

Ingredients:
1 Tablespoon chili powder
1 Tablespoon smoked paprika
1 Tablespoon garlic powder
1 Tablespoon ground cumin
1 ½ teaspoon dried oregano
1 Tablespoon fine sea salt
½ teaspoon fresh ground pepper
½ teaspoon crushed red pepper

Preparation:
In a small bowl, add all ingredients and mix well. Store in a Ziploc bag or small plastic bowl with airtight lid.

When ready to make a batch of fajitas, use 1 heaping Tablespoon of this mix per 1 pound of meat.

Notes:
This mix is very similar to the commercial fajita seasoning packets, but has no thickening agent like McCormicks or Lawry’s. If thickening is important to you, add 1 Tablespoon of cornstarch to the mix.

You can easily double or triple this recipe, keeping it in a tightly covered container in your cupboard for future use.
