Serves: 4-6

Ingredients:
1 stick (8 Tablespoons) butter
1 can (20 ounces) sliced peaches in syrup
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 ½ cups granulated sugar, divided
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
¾ cup Vitamin D milk
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
⅓ teaspoon ground nutmeg

Preparation:
Preheat oven to 350°

Melt the butter in a microwave safe bowl (I used a Pyrex measuring cup) on your microwave’s “melt butter” setting. Pour it across the bottom of a 9″ x 12″ oven-safe pan or casserole dish.

Pour the syrup from the peaches into a cup or bowl and set aside. Arrange the peach slices in the pan with butter, in roughly a single layer. Set aside.

In a small mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder and 1 cup of the sugar (set the remaining ½ cup of sugar aside). Stir in the milk, then the peach syrup.

Pour the batter over the peach slices.

In a small bowl, mix together the remaining 1/2 cup of sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Sprinkle the mixture over the batter.

Bake for 45 – 60 minutes, until the crust is browned.

Notes:
If you would rather use fresh peaches instead of canned, see our recipe for Peach Pie Filling.
